민수기 1장 인구조사에 관한 것

민수기 1장은 가나안 땅을 지배한 후 토지 분배를 위한 인구 조사를 한 내용이 나옵니다. 아울러 지파별 전쟁을 할 수 있는 연령의 배치를 한 것도 인상적입니다. 그중에서 레위 지파는 착출 하지 않았는데요. 이유가 궁금합니다.

 

 

 

토지 분배 준비

 

이집트 탈출 후 2년째 두 번째 달하고 첫 번째 날 하나님이 모세를 불러 말씀하신 내용입니다.

 

1. The lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tent of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying.

2."Take a census of all the congregation of the people of Israel, by clans, by fathers' house, according to the number of names, every male, head by head.

 

 

 인구조사와 지파를 중심으로

 

 

인구조사를 할 것과 전쟁을 할 수 있는 나이인 스무 살부터 나열하라고 하는데요. 남녀노소 꼼꼼한 호구조사를 비롯하여 군대까지 양성할 계획인가 봅니다.

 

 

3. From twenty years old and upwards, all in Israel who are able to go to war, you and Aaron shall list them, company by company. 4. And there shall be with you a man from each tribe, each man being the head of the house of his fathers. 5. And these are the names of the men who shall assist you. From Reuben, Elzur the son of Shederu, 6. from Simeon, Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai, 7. from Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab;  8. from Issachar, Nethanel the son of Zuar;  9.from Zebulun Eliab the son of Helon; 10. from the son of Joseph, from Ephraim, Elishama the son of Ammihud, and from Manasseh, Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur; 11. from Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gideoni;  12 from Dan, Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai;  13 from Asher, Pagiel the son of Ochran; 14 from Gad, Eliasaph the son of Deuel; 15 from Naphtali, Ahira the son of Enan." 16 These were the ones chosen from the congregation, the chiefs of their ancestral tribes, the heads of the clans of Israel.

 

 

그리고 지파를 나눠서 그 지파에 해당하는 자손인지 도와줄 사람을 구성하는 것 같은데요. 교회에도 목사가 있고 전도사가 있고 장로들이 있듯이 그런 식으로 사회 구성원을 정해 놓은 듯합니다. 사주 명리학에서도 12 지신이 있는 것처럼 성경에서의 12지파도 나름 예사롭지 않는 것 같습니다.

 

 지파별 전쟁에 나갈 수 있는 청년?

 

17. Moses and Aaron took these men who had been named, 18. and on the first day of the second month, they assembled the whole congregation together, who registered themselves by clans, by father's houses, according to the number of names from twenty years old and upwards, head by head,  19. as the Lord commanded Moses, So he listed them in the wilderness of Sinai.

 

그렇게 지파별, 족보별 이름을 따서 등록하여 광야에 집합을 시켰습니다.

 

 

20 The people of Reuben, Israel's firstborn, their generation, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, head by head, every male from twenty years old and upwards, all who were able to go to war; 

21 those listed of the tribe of Reuben were 46,500.

 

이스라엘의 맏아들 르우벤은 아버지의 첩과 외도하여 물의를 일으킨 아들이기도 하죠. 아무튼, 르우벤 지파에 속한 전쟁할 수 있는 청년은 46,500명이고 훗날 버림받은 지파 시므온 지파에 속한 청년은 59, 300명이었다고 합니다. 

 

22 Of the people of Simeon, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, those of them who were listed, according to the number of names, head by head, every male from twenty years old and upwards, all who were able to go to war;  23 those listed of the tribe of Simeon were 59,300. 24 Of the people of Gad, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upwards, all who were able to go to war;  25 those listed of the tribe of Gad were 45,650.

26 Of the people of Judah, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to fo to war. 27 those listed of the tribe of Judah were 74,600. 28 Of the people of Issachar, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to go to war;  29 those listed of the tribe of Issachar were 54,400. 30 Of the people of Zebulun, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers's houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to go to war; 

31 those listed of the tribe of Zebulun were 57,400. 32 Of the people of Joseph, namely, of the people of Ephraim, their generation, by their clans, by their fathers' house according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to fo to war. 33. those listed of the tribe of Ephraim were 40, 500. 34 Of the people of Manasseh, their generations, by their clans, by their clans, by their fathers' house according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to fo to war. 35 those listed of the tribe of Manasseh were 32, 200.

 

 

 

36. Of the people of Benjamin, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to fo to war. 

37 those listed of the tribe of Benjamin were 35,400. 

38 Of the people of Dan, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to go to war; 

39 those listed of the tribe of Dan were 62,700. 

40 Of the people of Asher, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to go to war. 

41 those listed of the tribe of Asher were 41, 500.

 

42 Of the people of Naphtali, their generations, by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to go to war; 

43 those listed of the tribe of Naphtali were 53, 400.

44 These are those who were listed, whom Moses and Aaron listed with the help of the chiefs of Israel, twelve men, each representing his fathers' house. 

45 So all those listed of the people of Israel, by their fathers' houses, from twenty years old and upwards, every man able to go to war in Israel 

46 all those listed were 603,550.

 

지파는 르우벤, 시므온, 갓, 유다, 잇사갈, 스불론, 에브라임, 베냐민, 단, 아셀, 납달리 이렇게 12개 지파로 인구수는 조금씩 차이나 납니다.

 

 

레위 지파만 이름을 올리지 않은 까닭은?

 

 

47 But the Levites were not listed along with them by their ancestral tribe. 

48 For the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 

49 "Only the tribe of Levi you shall not list, and you shall not take a census of them among the people of Israel. 

50 But appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings, and they shall take care of it and shall camp round the tabernacle. 

51 When the tabernacle is to set out, the Levites shall take it down, and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up. And if any outsider comes near, he shall be put to death. 

52 The people of Israel shall pitch their tents by their companies, each man in his own camp and each man by his own standard. 

53 But the Levities shall camp round the tabernacle of the testimony, so that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the people of Israel. And the Levites shall keep guard over the tabernacle of the testimony." 

54 Thus did the people of Israel; they did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses.

 

레위 지파는 군대로 착출 되지 않는 대신 성막 즉 성전 관리만 맡긴 것 같습니다. 제사장의 별도 의무 같은 거 아니려나요? 그런데 왜 레위 지파만 특별 대우를 하는지도 궁금하네요.
