민수기 4장 21절부터 인구조사 지속

 민수기 4장은 성막과 성물 관리 등에 관하여 레위 지파 내의 하위 집단인 고핫 자손들의 의무와 책무에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 보다 구체적으로 레위 지파의 하부 가족들로 고핫, 거손, 메라리, 아론이 해당하며 21절부터는 고핫에 이어 거손 그리고 므라리 집안이 등장합니다.

21. The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 22. "Take a census of the sons of Gershon also, by their fathers' houses and by their clans. 23. From thirty years old up to fifty years old, you shall list them, all who can come to do duty, to do service in the tent of meeting. 

 

 

 

레위 지파의 분파 혹은 후손들에 해당하는 고핫 일족의 인구 조사와 역할 부여에 이어 거손 일족도 인구 조사 및 역할을 분담하는 내용이 나옵니다.

 

고핫과 거손 일족의 일의 구분

 

 

레위 지파를 중심으로 고핫 자손들이 성막 안에서 가장 성스러운 물건들을 취급하는 역할을 맡았는데요. 직접 귀중품 등을 몸소 운반하고 보호하는 역할을 주력했습니다. 물건을 직접 만드는 것보다 운반하는 것의 역할이 컸다고 보고요.

 

거손 일족의 경우 성막의 커튼과 걸이 및 덮개를 책임졌습니다. 그러니까 고핫 사람들이 성물을 취급하고 운반하는 역할이었다면 거손은 직물 담당으로 볼 수 있습니다.

 

 

 

 

24. This is the service of the clans of the Gershonites, in serving and bearing burdens: 25. they shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the tent of meeting with its covering and the covering of goatskin that is on top of it and the screen for the entrance of the tent of meeting 26. and the hangings of the court and the screen for the entrance of the gate of the court that is round the tabernacle and the altar, and their cords and all the equipment for their service. And they shall do all that needs to be done with regard to them. 27. All the service of the sons of the Gershonites shall be at the command of Aaron and his sons, in all that they are to carry and in all that they have to do. And you shall assign to their charge all that they are to carry. 28. This is the service of the clans of the sons of the Gershonites in the tent of meeting, and their guard duty is to be under the direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

 

그리고 이와 같은 일을 행할 때는 아론 제사장의 아들인 잇다말의 지휘 하에 움직였다고 합니다. 신성한 성막을 두고 위계와 체계가 아주 엄격하게 구분되고 시행된 것 같습니다.

 

 기둥 담당 메라리 일족

 

 

 

29. "As for the sons of Merari, you shall list them by their clans and their fathers' houses. 30. From thirty years old up to fifty years old, you shall list them, everyone who can come on duty, to do the service of the tent of meeting. 31. And this is what they are charged to carry, as the whole of their service in the tent of meeting: the frames of the tabernacle, with its bars, pillars, and bases, 32. and the pillars round the court with their bases, pegs, and cords, with all their equipment and all their accessories. And you shall list by name the objects that they are required to carry. 33. This is the service of the clans of the sons of Merari, the whole of their service in the tent of meeting, under the direction of Ithamar the sons of Aaron the priest."

 

고핫은 성물 운반 거손은 직물 담당에 이어 메라리 일족은 성막 등에 배치된 기둥과 연관된 일을 부여받은 것 같습니다. 일종의 토목 담당인가요? 기둥과 관련된 장비 전반된 일을 메라리 일족이 맡아서 하였습니다.

 

일을 할 수 있는 인원 2,750명

 

 

34. And Moses and Aaron and the chiefs of the congregation listed the sons of the Kohathites, by their clans and their fathers' houses, 35. from thirty years old up to fifty years old, everyone who could come on duty, for service in the tent of meeting, 36. and those listed by clans were 2, 750. 37. This was the list of the clans of the Kohathites, all who served in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron listed according to the commandment of the Lord by Moses.

 

그렇게 레위 지파 중 소위 잡일을 담당한 일꾼들을 서른에서 오십 살까지 추려서 모아보니 2,750명이었다고 합니다. 상당히 대규모 회사라고 해도 될 것 같습니다.

 

 

 

38. Those listed of the sons of Gershon, by their clans and their fathers' houses, 39. from thirty years old up to fifty years old, everyone who could come on duty for service in the tent of meeting.

40. those listed by their clans and their fathers' hoses were 2, 630. 41. This was the list of the clans of the son of Gershon, all who served in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron listed according to the commandment of the Lord.

 

 

계속되는 인구 조사

 

 

42. Those listed of the clans of the sons of Merari, by their clans and their fathers' houses, 43. from thirty years old up to fifty years old, everyone who could come on duty, for service in the tent of meeting- 44. those listed by clans were 3,200. 45. This was the list of the clans of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron listed according to the commandment of the Lord by Moses.

 

46. All those who were listed of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chiefs of Israel listed, by their clans and their fathers' hoses, 47. from thirty years old up to fifty years old, everyone who could come to do the service of ministry and the service of bearing burdens in the tent of meeting, 48. those listed were 8,580. 49. According to the commandment of the Lord through Moses they were listed, each one with his task of serving or carrying. Thus they were listed by him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

 

이렇게 고핫에 이어 거손, 므라리 등 일족의 인구 조사를 하고 각기 신을 위해 어떤 일을 해야하는지 구체적인 의무를 부여한 내용이었습니다. 또한, 이들은 뭔가 신성하고 성스러운 일을 직접 행하기보다는 섬기거나 짊어지는 일에 주력한 것으로 신은 이들에 대한 보상을 톡톡히 약속하신 걸로 알고 있습니다.
