인간이 살아가야 할 도적적 지침에 관하여 레위기 19장

레위기 19장은 하나님이 도덕적, 사회적, 종교적 지켜야 할 율법에 관해서 이야기하고 있습니다. 몸에 문신을 새기지 못하는 것부터 머리나 수염 깎는 일까지 규제를 하시는데요. 포괄적으로는 가족과 이웃 그리고 이방인 등에게 연민과 헌신을 가지고 잘 행동하라는 의미로 읽힙니다. 

 

 

 

 

안식일을 지켜라

 

1. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

2. "Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.

3. Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my Sabbaths : I am the Lord your God.

4. Don not turn to idols or make for yourselves any gods of cast metal: I am the Lord your God.

 

 

5. " When you offer a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord, you shall offer it so that you may be accepted.

6. It shall beeaten the same day you offer it or on the day after, and anything left over until the third day shall be burned up with fire.

7. If it is eaten at all on the third day, it is tainted; it will not be accepted, 

8. and everyone who eats it shall bear his iniquity, because he has profaned what is holy to the Lord, and that person shall be cut off from his people.

 

하나님은 모세에게 또 말씀하십니다. 내가 거룩하니 너희들도 거룩할 것이다. 너희는 부모를 존경하고 안식일을 지키라고 합니다. 나는 너의 신이다라고 하면서요. 그리고 주철로 된 어떤 우상도 섬기지 말라고 합니다. 금으로 된 어떤 우상도 만들지 말라고도 하셨는데 백성 이것들이 또 주철로라도 뭘 만들어 댔나 봅니다. 

 

그리고 한가지 좀 웃긴 생각이 들긴 했는데요. 지금은 어떤지 모르겠으나 옛날 사람들 보면 교회 다닌다고 제사도 안 지내고 부모보다 하나님을 우선순위에 두고 그런 사례를 보았는데요. 예수만 믿으면 천국을 간다느니 하면서 맹목적으로 믿고 기도하고 찬송 부르고 했잖아요. 근데 가만 보면 성경이 완전 유교 마인드입니다. 부모 공경하고 제사 지내고 굿하고 별 거 다 합니다. 

 

 

 

 구구 절절 옳은 말씀

 

 

9. " When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, neither shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest.

10. And you shall not strip your vineyard bare, neither shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner. I am the Lord your God.

11. "You shall not steal ; you shall not deal falsely; you shall not lie to one another.

12. You shall  not swear by my name falsely, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.

 

 13. " You shall not oppress your neighbour or rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning.

14. " You shall not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.

15. "You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbour.

16. You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbour: I am the Lord.

 

 

 

 17. " You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbour, lest you incur sin because of him.

18. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbour as yourself: I am the Lord.

 

이런 게 종교이자 믿고 따라야 하는 이유가 된다면 기독교는 참으로 올바른 종교라고 생각합니다. 하나님은 인간 세상에서 지켜야 할 정직할 도리 그리고 선의를 강조하십니다. 포도밭의 떨어진 포도를 줍지 말고 동물이든 사람이든 여분을 남겨두라는 것부터 거짓말 하지 말고 불의를 행하지 말고 남에게 상처 주지 말고 이웃과 싸우지 말고, 약자를 괴롭히지 말고 복수하지 말라고 하는데요. 눈에는 눈 이에는 이로 갚으라고 했던 말씀도 기억이 나는데 아무튼, 새로운 시대에 하나님은 보다 단호하고 체계적인 율법을 만들어 지키라고 명령하십니다. 

 

 

혼종 금지

 

19. "You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind. You shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor shall you wear a garment of cloth made of two kinds of material.

 20. "If a man lies sexually with a woman who is a slave, assigned to another man and not yet ransomed or given her freedom, a distinction shall be made. They shall not be put to deathe, because she was not free;

21. but he shall bring his compensation to the Lord, to the entrance of the tent of meeting, a ram for a guilt offering.

22. And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering before the Lord for his sin that he has committed, and he shall be forgiven for the sin that he has committed.

 

 

 

23. "When you come into the land and plant any kind of tree for food, then you shall regard its fruit as forbidden. For three years it shall be forbidden to you; it must not be eaten.

24. And in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, an offering of praise to the Lord.

25. But in the fifth year you may eat of its fruit, to increase its yield for you: I am the Lord your God.

 

레위기 19장 19절도 인상적입니다. 창조주는 혼종, 즉 이종교배를 금지하였습니다. 동물이나 씨앗이나 혼합되게하여 번식을 하는 행위를 금지하고 있습니다. 이것이 불결하다는 의미인지 위험하다는 의미인지는 모르겠으나 이런 것까지 세세하게 지키라고 명하는 것을 보면 창조주는 분명 유경험자이며 매우 발달한 문명에서 오신 분이 아닌가 싶습니다.

 

 

 

그런데 이것이 꼭 과학적인 것에 근거해서 지시한 것보다는 일종의 순수성, 순결성을 강조하는 차원에서 그랬다는 얘기가 있는데요. 뭔가 단일 민족에 대한 자부심과 긍지가 남다른 것으로 보아 이것 역시 한국과 매우 비슷한 것 같기도 합니다. 한국이 한때 단일 민족을 그렇게 강조하고 좋아했었잖아요.

 

아무튼, 몇 천 년전에도 지키라고 쓰여있는 율법을 무시하고 인간은 혼종의 시대를 맞이했습니다. 머지않아 멸망이 올 것 같은 불길한 예감이 들 정도입니다. 

 

 결론은 착하게 살아라

 

 

26. "You shall not eat any flesh with the blood in it. You shall not interpret omens or tell fortunes.

 

피가 든 살을 먹지 말라고 하는 것은 고기를 레어로 먹지 말라는 의미인가 봅니다. 피뚝뚝 스테이크는 먹으면 안 된다고 하지만 그게 맛있다고 좋아라 하는 사람이 훨씬 많죠? 그리고 징조를 해석하거나 운세를 점치지 말라고 합니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 현대인들은 피뚝뚝 스테이크를 먹고 삶의 현상에 대해 예단하고 추측하고 점을 보고 점을 해석하고 난무하죠.

 

 

 

 

27. You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard.

28. You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.

 

인상적인 것은 머리나 수염을 자르는 방식에 관해서 얘기합니다. 둥글게 자르지 말라고 하는데 그래서 즈위시들이 저리 치렁치렁하게 수염을 기르고 다니나 봅니다. 

 

 

 

창조주는 문신도 금지하고 있습니다. 그러니까 죽은 사람을 기리기 위해 몸에 새기는 그런 행위는 혼이 납니다. 그런데 현대인들은 어찌 알고 하나님이 하지 말라는 것만 그렇게 반대로 하고 다니는 걸까요? 오래전부터 인간이 그렇게 해왔기에 금지하는 것인지 미리 알고 그럴까 봐 금지한 것인지 모르겠네요. 그런데 무엇보다 핵심은 창조주는 결벽증이라는 점입니다. 몸에 흠집 나는 것을 너무 싫어하십니다. 

 

 29. "Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, lest the land fall into prostitution and the land become full of depravity.

30. You shall keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.

31. " Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.

32. "You shall stand up before the grey head and honour the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.

33. " When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong.

34. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

35. "You shall do no wrong in judgement, in measures of length or weight or quantity.

36. You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

37. And you shall observe all my statutes and all my rules, and do them: I am the Lord."

 

그밖에 딸을 창녀로 만들지도 말고 이방인을 원주민처럼 잘 대해주라고 합니다. 너희가 이방인이었기에 그 마음을 헤아리라는 뜻이죠. 아무튼, 정직하게 살고, 안식일을 지키고 몸과 마음을 경건하게 가지라는 좋은 말씀이었습니다.
