피를 먹지 말라는 내용의 레위기 17장

레위기 17장은 동물을 잡을 때 하나님께 일정 부분 선물이나 희생 제물로 바치라는 것과 더는 우상 숭배하던 염소 악마에게 갖다 바치치 말라는 내용입니다. 그리고 먹을 수 있는 동물을 잡았을 때 생피를 먹지 말고, 그냥 익혀서 먹으라는 의미 같습니다. 

 

 

희생 제물을 바쳐라

 

 

 

1. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

2. "Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the people of Israel and say to them, This is the thing that the Lord has commanded.

3. If any one of the house of Israel kills an ox or a lamb or a goat in the camp, or kills it outside the camp,

4. and does not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting to offer it as a gift to the Lord in front of the tabernacle of the Lord, bloodguilt shall be imputed to that man. He has shed blood, and that man shall be cut off from among his people.

5. This is to the end that the people of Israel may bring their sacrifices that they sacrifice in the open field, that they may bring them to the Lord, to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and sacrifice them as sacrifices of peace offerings to the Lord.

 

 

 

6. And the priest shall throw the blood on the altar of the Lord at the entrance of the tent of meeting and burn the fat for a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

7. So they shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices to goat demons, after whom they whore. This shall be a statute for ever for them throughout their generations.

 

 

 

 

 

로드가 모세에게 말하며 아론과 그의 아들들을 통해 사람들에게 전하라고 합니다. 이스라엘 집안에서 소나 양이나 염소를 죽이거나 혹은 밖에서 죽이게 되면 창조주께 선물을 바치라고 합니다. 그렇지 않으면 죄를 물을 것이라고 합니다. 그리고 멸문 혹은 멸족을 시킬 거라는 의미 같은데요. 모든 사람들에게 해당하기보다 이스라엘 혈통에 국한해서 표현한 거라고 봅니다. 그러니까 가문의 전통 혹은 가칙으로 보는 게 맞겠죠. 그렇지 않으면 굳이 이스라엘 피플이라고 할 이유가 없었겠죠?

 

아무튼 동물을 잡으면 갖다 바치고 피를 먹지 말라고 합니다. 여호와의 제단에 피를 뿌리고 지방은 태워 여호와를 기쁘게 하는 향기로 삼으라고 하는데, 주님은 익은 고기를 좋아하신다. 너희들도 날 것을 먹지 마라, 먹기 전에 하나님께 갖다 바쳐라. 그런 의미 같습니다. 그런데 7절이 좀 의미심장합니다. 더이상 염소 악마에게 갖다 주지 말라는 것인데 이는 이제 염소 악마에게 제물을 갖다 바치지 말고 나에게 바치면 된다는 것 같습니다. 

 

 

 

그동안 사람들이 염소 악마에게 제물을 바쳐왔다는 소리 잖아요? 이를 찾아보니 일종의 우상숭배를 했던 것으로 보이는데요. 이집트에서는 염소를 오시리스로 여겨 숭배했다고 하였는데요. 그렇다면 레위기 16장에 등장하는 아사셀을 의미하는 것인가 했더니 그것과는 다르다고 합니다. 뭐가 다른지는 모르겠으나 아사셀과 고트데몬은 다른 걸로 알고 있겠습니다. 

 

 

 

 피를 먹지 말라

 

8. "And you shall say to them, Any one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice

9. and does not bring it to the entrance of the tenr of meeting to offer it to the Lord, that man shall be cut off from his people.

 

이스라엘 일가를 비롯해서 그 집안에 거하는 이방인들 중에 희생 제물을 바치면 멸문지화를 당할 거라고 경고하는 내용입니다. 

 

 

 

10. "If any one of the house of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn among them eats any blood. I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people.

11. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.

12. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood.

 

생 피를 먹지 말라는 내용이 포인트 입니다. 로드가 피를 먹지 말라고 한 가장 큰 이유 중 하나는 생명의 살이 피로 구성되었기 때문이라고 합니다. 피로 생명을 만들고 죄 없는 동물의 피로 죄를 덮고 등등 그런 얘기도 신앙적으로는 중요하지만, 앞선 문명이 동물의 생피를 먹으면 건강에 치명적일 수 있기 때문에 위생과 건강상 먹지 못하게 한 것이 아닌가 싶습니다. 

 

너무 원초적이라 보다 근사한 해석을 찾아 보니 속죄는 하나님이 사람에게 주신 선물이고, 죄에 대한 속죄는 오직 피 속에 있다고 합니다. 생명은 하나님이 사람에게 주신 선물이고 생명은 피 속에 있다는 것이죠.

 

 

 

 먹을 수 있는 동물의 피는

 

 

13. " Any one also of the people of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, who takes in hunting any beast or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth.

14. For the life of every creature is its blood: its blood is its life. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.

15. And every person who eats what dies of itself or what is torn by beasts, whether he is a native or a sohourner, shal wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening; then he shall be clean.

16. But if he does not wash them or bathe his flesh, he shall bear his iniquity."

 

13절부터의 내용도 비슷한 내용입니다. 먹을 수 있는 동물을 잡았을 때 피는 쏟아부어 흙으로 덮으라고 합니다. 먹을 수 있는 동물은 잡아 피를 뽑고, 살을 씻고 해서 익혀 먹으라는 말로 읽힙니다. 동물의 생피는 절대 먹지 말라고 하는 것 같은데 한국 사람들은 몸에 좋다며 사슴피며 염소피며 생간이며 피뚝뚝 흐르는 소고기도 먹는 등 죄를 많이 짓고 사는 것 같네요. 하지만 이는 이스라엘 민족과 그에 속한 이방인에 국한한 얘기라고 믿고 싶습니다. 문화의 차이고 이들만의 가풍으로 정한 것이니까요.
